5 Easy Steps to Achieve Consistent Sales in Your Business

Posted On Nov 03, 2023 |

In the world of business, fluctuations are a given, especially in the early stages.

However, there is one strategy that can revolutionise your success. Taking my paint company, Upcycled & Co., to six figures within 18 months was no small feat, but it all came down to a formula any business owner can implement: building an email list. Without an email list, you are literally leaving money on the table.

Research reveals that 35-45% of sales originate from email marketing, but in my case, it accounted for at least 60% of our sales. Those pesky electronic direct mail messages you receive in your inbox might seem bothersome, but they work, and they work incredibly well.

In this article, I'll guide you step-by-step on what to do and how to create your path to success:

    Develop a High-Value Freebie

Put yourself in the shoes of your ideal audience and think about the problems they want to solve. What valuable resource or content would you appreciate if you were in their position? Create this piece of content to offer as a freebie to those who sign up for your email list.

    Choose an Email Marketing Provider

Numerous email marketing providers are available, some free and some paid. MailerLite is my choice due to its cost-effectiveness compared to MailChimp. Most providers offer free services until you reach a certain number of subscribers. Take advantage of tutorials from your chosen provider or use resources like YouTube and business Facebook groups if you need help.

    Create a Nurture Sequence

Set up a series of introductory emails to be automatically sent to new subscribers. This sequence, lasting 1-2 weeks, should include 3-7 emails that provide even more value and keep people engaged and interested.

Embed Your Opt-in On Your Website

Place your email marketing opt-in form on your homepage and create a dedicated landing page on your website. Direct website traffic to this landing page when promoting your freebie.

    Share Your Freebie

Promote your freebie consistently on your social media profiles, and through posts, reels, and Facebook ads. Inform your audience about the value they'll gain from signing up for your email list.

    Talk to Your Subscribers

Establish a frequency that works for you and regularly send informative and engaging emails to your subscribers. Once or twice a month, send promotional emails offering discounts, a gift with purchase, giveaways, or referral discounts.

Never underestimate the power of an email list. Once I started sending fortnightly sales emails to my subscribers, my business experienced significant growth. Sales became not only consistent but grew month on month too. If you haven't started an email list yet, do it today—you won't regret it.
